
Honourable Edgar Moyo was appointed Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education on 7 September 2018. He is a veteran of the liberation, trade unionist and an accomplished educationist who was with the Ministry from 1987 to 2017. He first joined the Ministry as a teacher after graduating from Hillside Teachers College and rose through ranks to become Head of several secondary and high schools before his retirement from the civil service in 2017. After retirement, he continued to serve as the Secretary for Education of Matobo District (ZANU PF).
Hon Moyo’s leadership skills span from the time he joined the liberation struggle in Botswana in 1978 where he was heavily involved in teaching recruits English and Geography at Selebi Pikwe. Between 1987 and 2017, he served in different capacities, among which are:

Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) Board Member: 2014-2017;

Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) National Treasurer: 2008-2017;

Member of National Joint Negotiating Council representing all government workers in negotiating salaries and conditions of service;

Council Member in the Southern Africa Teachers Organisation (SATO) a SADC umbrella body for teachers unions; and

Represented teachers and ZIMSEC in local, regional and international platforms.
Hon Edgar Moyo’s leadership skills are derived from academic achievements. He is the holder of a Certificate in Education, Bachelors Degree in Education Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Hon. Moyo is currently studying for a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Business Leadership and Management.
As a Member of Parliament for Matobo North Constituency, Hon Moyo is engaged in philanthropic work where is paying school fees for nine disadvantaged students, three university students and has set up a bursary fund for Post Graduates in the field of Chemical Engineering.
