The Minister Honourable Ambassador N. C. G. Mathema has issued a press statement applauding ZIMSEC and its stakeholders for successfully conducting the June 2020 Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations. The examinations which were the first to be conducted in the Covid-19 era, were written under strict guidelines from the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) as well as the World Health Organisation (WHO) on mitigating against the spread of the pandemic. Examination centres received thermometers for screening, personal protective equipment (PPE) for candidates and social distancing was at the centres was firmly enforced by the heads and invigilators. The minister paid tribute to the heads and invigilators for remaining professional and efficient in spite of the difficult operating environment as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The national Covid-19 response taskforce, tertiary education institutions, corporate partners and other stakeholders have been appreciated for their assistance in ensuring that the examinations were conducted safely.
