Curriculum Implementation Phases

The new Curriculum will be implemented in phases as shown below

Activity

Phase 1: 2016

Preparation and syllabus development

  • Development and printing of syllabuses for all levels – EDC to A Level
  • Development of learning materials including textbooks, handbooks, manuals
  • Induction of all teachers and supervisors into the new curriculum framework
  • Training in syllabus interpretation for supervisors and teachers taking following classes in 2017: ECD, ECD “A”, Grades 1nd 3, Forms 1, 3 and 5.

Phase 2: 2017

Preparation and Implementation

 

  • Implementation of new curriculum by the following classes: ECD, ECD “A”, Grades 1 and 3, Forms 1,3, and 5.
  • Contributing training in syllabus interpretation for supervisors and teachers taking following classes in 2018: ECD “B”, Grades 2,4, and Forms 2,4 and 6

2018: Implementation

Continues

  • Continuation of implementation of new curriculum by the following classes:  ECD “B”, Grades 2 and 4; Forms 4 and 6.
  • Continuing training in syllabus interpretation for supervisors and teachers.

2019

Implementation

  • Continuation of training in syllabus interpretation for supervisors and teachers taking the following classes in 2020: Grade 6 and Form 4.

2020

Implementation

  • Continuation of the implementation of the new curriculum at the following levels: Grade 6 and Form 4.
  • Training in syllabus interpretation for supervisors and teachers taking the following classes in 2020 – Grade 7.

2021

Implementation

  • Implementation of first Junior School Examination at Grade 7. The examination will transform into the new nomenclature: Junior School Examination.

2022

Implementation

  • Implementation at full scale
  • Inception of the second cycle of reform.
